  From SINUS to SINUS Transfer: An Overview

Five years of experience
The SINUS programme was initiated by the outcome of the 1996/1997 TIMS Study. This study pointed out the clear drawbacks of German pupils in mathematical and scientific understanding. The SINUS programme, which was initially intended for five years, started with 180 schools throughout the Federal Republic of Germany.

The key role of teachers in the improvement of quality standards
Cooperation amongst teachers played an exceptional role in the SINUS programme. Teachers in regional associations of schools (school groups) improved their teaching methods considerably. Review and evaluation of theirown math and science lessons was the key focus of the project. The school groups received both advice and practical support from coordinators, who worked in close cooperation both at the state and federal levels.

The international programme for promoting mathematics and science in schools was scientifically accompanied and evaluated by universities. The material is based on good exercises and creating a learning environment for a hands-on approach to mathematical and scientifical knowledge.

Projekt "Fortbildung in schulischen Netzwerken" (Skill enhancement in networking for schools)

  Das Schulamt Pinneberg bietet für zwei Jahre ein besonderes Unterstützungsprojekt für Schulen an, die sich in intensive Qualitätsentwicklungsprozesse hineinbegeben wollen. Das Projekt "Fortbildung in schulischen Netzwerken" wird gemeinsam vom IQSH, Institut für Qualitätsentwicklung an Schulen in Schleswig-Holstein, dem Schulamt Pinneberg und der Jugendhilfe unterstützt.

  The local school board offers a special networking training for schools which like to get involved in intense quality developing processes. This project is supported by the IQSH (Institute of quality management in Schleswig-Holstein), the local school board and the office of family and youth support/social care.

Kooperation zwischen Erziehungseinrichtungen und dem Verein Wendepunkt e.V. (Cooperation between institutions of social care and the private society Wendepunkt e.V.)

  In dieser Präsentation zeigt der Verein seine Tätigkeit im Rahmen schulischer Präventionsmaßnahmen in Zusammenarbeit mit der Jugendhilfe des Kreises Pinneberg auf.

Mathematikdidaktik in Schleswig-Holstein (Didactics of maths in Schleswig-Holstein)

  In der Besuchswoche der italienischen Delegation in Pinneberg wurde der Weiterentwicklung der Mathematikdidaktik in Schleswig-Holstein besondere Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Die Teilnehmer tauschten sich über die Anliegen der besonderen Projekte "Niemanden zurücklassen - Mathe macht stark", "Sinus an Grundschulen" und den Anspruch der "individuellen Förderung", besonders im Bereich der Eingangsphase der Grundschulen aus.

Hierzu wurden Materialien vorgestellt und diskutiert, die auf Anregung des Instituts für Qualitätsentwicklung an Schulen in Schleswig-Holstein, z.T. in Zusammenarbeit mit Universitäten, entstanden sind, von Fortbildnern entwickelt wurden und in schulischen Netzwerken, wie z.B. auf Schulentwicklungstagen, in regionalen SINUS-Gruppen oder den regionalen NZL-Netzwerken, verbreitet werden.

  Promoting maths has been in the centre of attention, of both the German and Italian project partners within the mobilities and encounters. The importance and special meaning of the Schleswig-Holstein projects “Nobody left behind - Maths makes you strong”, “Sinus at primary schools” and the issue of “individualized help” for children with special needs has been discussed and worked on within the project meetings.

Materials have been presented and discussed. The cooperation with universities and teacher trainers, schools‘ networks as well as regional SINUS-groups or regional groups of “Nobody left behind” teachers were a part of the partner’s programs for school visits and meetings. Inklusion in Schulen (Inclusion in schools)

  In der italienischen Partnerregion Emilia Romagna wird das gesetzlich verankerte Prinzip der Inklusion in Schulen umgesetzt. Das bedeutet auch, dass die Institutionen eigene programmatische Aussagen zur Umsetzung dieser gesetzlichen Grundlagen entwickelt haben, die die praktische Arbeit steuern. Am Beispiel des Plans für "Schüler mit besonderem Förderbedarf oder Migrationshintergrund" der Schule Aldini Ferrari wird unter anderem auch deutlich, über welche Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten die Schule verfügt, um Inklusion praktisch umzusetzen.

  In our partner region of Emilia Romagna, schools have to work inclusively by law. The schools work out their own programs and main ideas for working with students with special needs based on principles of inclusion in the classroom. Here you find an example of the Aldini Ferrari School which shows how an Italian school manages its plans for students with special needs and migration background, its human resources, networking and pedagogical decisions.

Intelligentes Üben (Intelligent exercises)

  Ein Mathematikunterricht, der Schülern grundlegende Ideen und mathematisches Verständnis zur Lösung realer Probleme mitgeben will, kann dennoch nicht auf Übungen verzichten. Das wichtige Training basaler Fertigkeiten und Fähigkeiten im Mathematikunterricht sollte aber nicht durch langweiliges Abarbeiten der immer gleichen Übungsreihen erfolgen. In der vorliegenden Präsentation werden Ideen für ein ertragreiches intelligentes Üben vorgestellt.

  Teaching maths with the aim of giving students some basic ideas and mathematical comprehension to solve problems of the outer/real world cannot leave out training of mathematical skills and exercises. The important training of basic skills and knowledge shouldn’t always work with the same stupid and boring exercises. The following presentation gives you an idea of successful, intelligent exercises.

Analytische Geometrie (Analytical Geometry)

  Die folgenden Beispielaufgaben, Fotos und Anleitungen zur praktischen Verdeutlichung der Themen der Analytischen Geometrie können den Unterricht für Schüler anschaulich und verständlich gestalten. Jedes mathematische Problem hat eine Entsprechung in der realen Welt. Diese Erfahrung fehlt vielen Schülern durch einen Mathematikunterricht, der sich auf die Anwendung von Formeln und Berechnungen zurückzieht.

  The following examples, pictures and illustrations of the topics of analytical geometry should help teachers to plan lessons which are easy to understand and refer to reality. Each mathematical problem refers to reality. “Normal” math classes often neglect these references while working only with formula and mathematical terms or calculations. The following link shows mathematics as a subject referred to the world around us.

Teaching maths oriented toward students’ competencies requires more than just teaching calculating. To solve real problems with the help of mathematical basic ideas is already a task for primary schools.

  Mathematik kompetenzorientiert unterrichten ist mehr als reines Rechnen: Reale Probleme mit mathematischen Hilfsmitteln lösen und dafür das Handwerkszeug zu erwerben, ist bereits eine Aufgabe der Primastufe.

Rally matematico transalpino

  Bei der "Rally matematico transalpino" handelt es sich um einen internationalen Mathematikwettbewerb für Schulklassen, die gemeinsam in einem dreistufigen Prüfungsverfahren interessante und komplexe mathematische Probleme lösen, dabei von einer neutralen Person beaufsichtigt werden und ihre in der Klasse diskutierten Ergebnisse einer Prüfungskommission der Region zur Bewertung einreichen.

Gefördert werden die Zusammenarbeit von Schülern und Lehrern, das mathematische Argumentieren und Begründen und die Lösung komplexer Aufgaben- und Problemstellungen der Mathematik. Ziel ist eine Veränderung der Mathematikdidaktik und eine Professionalisierung im Sinne einer Kompetenzorientierung der Mathematik-Lehrkräfte über die Durchführung des Wettbewerbs hinaus.

Fortbildung in der Beruflichen Schule in Elmshorn (Lernbürokonzept)

 
  The Italian project partners were very much interested in the school concept and the integrated room concept of our Professional School (Berufliche Schule des Kreises Pinneberg) in Elmshorn. After a first school visit of two Italian partners in August the Kreis Pinneberg regional school authority organized a second visit in March 2012 to inform the Italian collegues about the schools' internal concepts. The teacher formation and information about the school concept has been a success for the project. The school's papers about their pedagogical ideas and the most important principles of a training office are summarized below:

  Die Schulen des Kreises Pinneberg arbeiten in diesem und dem nächsten Schuljahr an der Entwicklung eigener Förderkonzepte. Dazu wurden die Schulleitungen fortgebildet. Frau Wack, als externe Beraterin und Moderatorin der Veranstaltung, stellte Hilfsfragen zusammen, mit deren Hilfe alle wichtigen Schritte zur Entwicklung schulinterner Konzepte, z.B. an Schulentwicklungstagen entfaltet werden können.

  The headmasters of all Kreis Pinneberg schools worked together on the important task of how concepts of academic advance programs could be developed and implemented in their schools. Astrid Wack, as en external coach, provided central questions for teachers' cooperation on this topic.
